Antigone

We continue our exploration of the programs of the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts with a look at the 2007 Actor's Repertory Theatre production of Antigone, performed by NCDA students. Education Director Hope Lambert talks with director George F. Grant about working with "newly-minted" professional actors and the challenges and joys of watching students mature as the move through the Conservatory's program. Hope then talks to the cast of Antigone about their experiences and then wraps up with a conversation with NCDA Vice President Nan Kyle Ficca. The Artists Project

We continue our exploration of the programs of the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts with a look at The Artists Project, a unique performance opportunity for students, graduates and faculty of The Conservatory to use its space for performances. We talk to Artists Project founder and producer Nan Kyle Ficca, Conservatory President Ray Ficca, who talks about the Conservatory Cabaret, and Doug Wilder, a recent NCDA graduate who directed and produced 2007's Cabaret. We hear original music from Doug and an original monologue and an original song from grad Kiertan Thorarinson. For more information on The Conservatory, visit www.theconservatory.org. The Princess and the Pea

In our inaugural edition, we focus on a new program of the Conservatory: a partnership with Charter Theatre to develop new children's theatre pieces using Conservatory graduates as members of the acting company. During rehearsals for the first offering, a musical adaptation of The Princess and the Pea, by Sean Fri and Ray Ficca, we drop in on a rehearsal for a "first listen" at some of the witty new songs being developed and Education Director Hope Lambert spends some time chatting with the cast of The Princess and the Pea and director/writer/Conservatory President Ray Ficca about developing the show and his changing relationships with professional actors who were once his students.
